my bad didnt see the msconfig part. this is what my friend used, maybe its worth a shot. im still waiting to get his vbscript that restores several registry keys, but it sounds like most of yours work already. i'll post it anyway. any other symptoms happening out of the ordinary? i agree with M, seems like we need to the real name of the virus, not "kdwhf".

malwarebytes is pretty good. do the scan on there and see if it goes away.

screw auto scans with antivirus and anti-spyware..some trigger from scans..always do routine scans in safe mode..it saves a lot of headaches..there are too many proccesses running these days and more ways to cover them up..

AVG got it as it tried to run as a process..from the initial scan, nothing was found - what a nigr that thing was.
